Hill workout 16 launches with a FLAT time trial effort 15-20min in duration. Then it’s a 12min loop of as many short hills, stairs you can complete. It closes with a series of short and fast flat intervals. Flat intervals in a hill workout? Sure!
- Cover as much ground as possible in 15-20min on flat or flat’ish terrain. Run 3min easy and then start the hill phase.
- Hills: 12min AMRAP, up as many stairs or short hills as possible. Time includes a quick run back down for each.
- Complete 5 flat intervals of 1min in duration with 1min rest in between each

Notes from Jeff’s test run of this HILLWOD: Becky and I did this one in Levanto, Italy, near Cinque Terre. We time trialed through a few kilometers of tunnels and then did 12 minutes of stair repeats at an old seaside church. We closed the session with tunnel sprints and some easy running and walking with my parents along the coast.
