HILLWOD 39 is for those times where the last thing you want to do is train on a hill, but you know you need it! This HILLWOD is named “”But I don’t wanna run up a hill.””

 

Instructions:

 

Complete 10 fartlek hill intervals. Shortest 20 seconds. Longest 50 seconds.

Notes from Jeff’s test run of this HILLWOD: I did this one in Wollerau, Switzerland on December 26th. As you see from my clothing, this is not a normal Swiss December. Even the mountains in the background are barely covered in snow. This is crazy. The weather made for a nice spring-feeling run though. Today I was feeling stuffed and lazy from Christmas food and drink. I was struggling to feel motivated enough to do a hill running workout. I solved that problem 2 minutes into the run by sprinting for 30 seconds up a very steep hill. It felt terrible of course, but it shook me out of my lazy trance. What followed was 9 more challenging sprints. Before I knew it the workout was over and I felt great. Today structure wasn’t in the cards, but high intensity spontaneity was the perfect fit.
