Private Guiding
I plan custom adventures for private parties and I take them on it myself. A single day or a short trip, somewhere interesting in the world.
Sometimes that's hiking. It could be sea kayaking, cycling, or a multisport trip.
What This Is
Some people want an adventure and have a single day for it, or a very small window. They're bringing family or a small party, and they want to be somewhere interesting in the world on a specific date.
I plan a custom adventure for that date, and I take them on it.
These trips are planned in a lot of detail and held to a high standard. I vet the local partners, the routes or waters we'll use, and the facilities before I commit to a plan, because on the day everything needs to go perfectly.
Who It's For
A principal, a family, or the people who plan on their behalf: a chief of staff, a family office, a security lead.
If someone gave you my name, this page is here so you can decide quickly whether a call makes sense.
I don't discuss clients or their trips, here or anywhere else.
The usual situation
- The date is fixed.
- The window is short, sometimes a single day.
- The notice can be short too.
- Family or guests are coming, often with staff and security in the party.
- Everything stays private.
How I Work
About 80% of my work on a trip is work the client never sees. This is the detail I obsess over before every trip.
Location and plan
I start with what's fixed: the date, the time you have, and who is coming. Then I check what decides whether the day works: conditions on that exact date, how long it takes to get there from where you're staying, whether permits can be had on short notice, and the security picture. Then I recommend the location and the adventure that fit.
Fitted to the group
I design the day around the exact challenge level this group is ready for. What's popular doesn't come into it. If a destination or a plan doesn't meet the bar, I say so and recommend a different one.
A planned way out
Every plan I build supports a safe exfil if we need one. In plain terms, there is always a planned way to get people out quickly, at every stage of the day.
Advance review
Whenever possible, I go in advance to assess conditions, local partners, safety, and facilities. When that isn't possible, I hold the plan to a higher bar before I recommend it.
The team
I guide these trips myself, and I bring a guide from Switzerland when the trip calls for it. I also partner with local guides and specialists as needed, to supplement the team, meet local language and certification needs, and ensure the best possible client experience.
One practical point. I plan the adventure and I take you on it. Travel and lodging stay with your team. I'm not a travel booker and I don't sell packages.
Background
I've guided for over twenty years, eight of them on trips like these.
My experience includes the Swiss Alps, Dolomites, Kyrgyzstan, Iceland, Kilimanjaro, Patagonia, Baltic Sea, and Alaska.
On my own time I've run ultramarathons across deserts and mountains, and I'm a private pilot, trained in the complex topography and wind currents of the Alps.
For five years I was a civilian coach at SEALFIT Kokoro, working alongside Navy SEALs.
A lot of my work over the years has been in private, high-stakes settings.
Start a Conversation
Every trip starts with a conversation. Tell me the date or window you have, roughly who is coming, and who referred you. There’s no price list. We talk first.
